Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)

Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India has established ‘MoE’Innovation Cell(MIC) to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years. MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council’(IIC) across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses.

Roles of Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) Established in HEIs

Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) established in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) will play an instrumental role in the whole process of innovation repository creation at each institute level by identifying, scouting ideas, innovations, and start-ups from students, alumni / recent graduates, faculty members, staff, entrepreneurs incubated at the institute. Moreover, IIC institutions will keep scouting innovations and start-ups throughout the year for building the repository, verification of received submissions on a regular basis, and taking necessary actions to provide hand-holding supports such as mentoring, grant assistance, nomination for national innovation challenges, referral & linkage with incubation units, accelerators, and connections with Angel / Venture Capital (VC) networks, facilitating technology transfer, etc., towards sustainable generation and production of innovations and start-ups from HEIs.
